Basekept
Brushed stainless steel.
It lives on your counter, and you buy it once.
First-harvest matcha from Uji.
In a Base you keep for life.
The setup takes five minutes. The calm lasts all morning.
Matcha of this grade has always come in something you put away. A bag in a cupboard, opened and closed until it fades.
We made the opposite. Stainless steel, sealed against air and light, made to be left out.
Keep the Base. Replace the Pod.
Our matcha comes from Horii Shichimeien, who tend Okunoyama, the last surviving garden of Uji's seven historic tea gardens, cultivated for more than six hundred years.
First-harvest leaves. Shaded twenty-five days. Ground on stone.
A blend, in the Uji tradition. Each year the tea master reads the harvest and composes across gardens and cultivars, so each bowl tastes the same as the year before. Ours is Kaze no Shiro, meaning "the white of the wind."
Twenty-five days of shade produce L-theanine. It holds the caffeine steady, and lets it go slowly.
Calm focus, without the crash.
The Home set is the starting point.
The Whisk prepares the bowl.
The Bowl, Sieve and Spoon refine it.
The Base and your first Pod.
The matcha, and the object it lives in.
The Base, your first Pod and the Whisk. Everything needed to prepare a bowl.
The Base, your first Pod, Whisk, Bowl, Sieve and Spoon.
The complete ritual.
It lives on my counter and I use it every morning. Best matcha I've had and the first one I've actually kept up.
I really take a moment for myself to prepare my drink.
You really taste the quality. It has become part of my daily ritual.
